Secretary

Bertie Bus is looking for a new voluntary Secretary

This position is at the heart of Bertie Bus’s work supporting elderly and isolated people in and around Crieff. Bertie Bus is run entirely by volunteers, including the Board of Trustees. As one of the Officers, this role is responsible for most of the administration associated with the charity, liaising with other organisations in the community, and contributing to the development of the charity’s work. Ideally the Secretary will be either a Passenger Assistant or Driver on Bertie, but this is not essential. If you are a good organiser, enjoy working with others and supporting people in the community, this role is for you. A good knowledge of Word and Excel (or equivalents) is essential.

If you would like to know more please email secretary@bertiebus.org.uk or call 07716 119414

Passenger Assistants

Many of our passengers have various types of mobility issues and may require assistance with boarding the bus and fastening seatbelts.  Some have other age-related issues.  Our passenger assistants offer the support and reassurance needed to ensure the passengers are safe, comfortable and enjoy the outing as much as possible.  If you would like to help our passengers on one or two weekday afternoons per month or would like further information, please email info@bertiebus.org.uk.

Drivers

Are you under the age of 73?  Do you have a D1 classification on your driving licence (automatically included if you passed your test before 1997, but needs to be renewed at 70 after taking a medical, paid for by Bertie Bus)?  If so would you like to drive Bertie on one or two weekday afternoons per month taking groups to cafes, shops, the local library etc?  All familiarisation / training including MiDAS (Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme) will be provided and paid for by Bertie Bus.  If you would like to volunteer for this rewarding role or require further information, please email secretary@bertiebus.org.uk

Training is provided as appropriate on the following: driver familiarisation; PA familiarisation; Covid Protocol, MiDAS, First Aid, and Dementia Awareness training.

Please note that all volunteers are enrolled with Disclosure Scotland’s PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme.
