There are a number of clubs providing companionship in a friendly atmosphere run under the Bertie Bus umbrella. Bertie Bus owns and runs a specially adapted bus which is able to transport door to door the elderly or less able passengers typically within the Strathearn area on behalf of the clubs. The bus can take wheelchairs via the tail lift.
The Wednesday Club
This meets every Wednesday afternoon for an outing on the bus with a stop for refreshments.
The Thursday Lunch Club
During school terms, the RVS runs a fortnightly lunch club during school term time at Duchlage court, Crieff and transport is provided by the Bertie Bus.
The Friday club
This meets for an afternoon outing in the bus except during January and February with a stop for refreshments.
The Library run
Once a month in the afternoon the bus takes passengers from their homes to the library in Crieff for a visit lasting an hour.
Shopping Group
On a monthly basis a group of passengers are taken to a well known food and clothes shop for them to stock up on essential goodies. The door to door service together with the active help of the Passenger Assistants is very much appreciated particularly when heavy shopping bags are concerned.
Cinema Run
A bi-monthly service offered to a specifically selected group to see a suitable film at a local cinema.
Comrie Run
A twice-monthly opportunity for people living in Comrie to enjoy a social outing.
Other outings
‘As well as the above runs, Bertie Bus provides various trips for different groups: for example, a monthly afternoon outing for residents from Richmond House Residential Home; a monthly shopping trip for a group from Muthill, etc.
The bus also takes out other people from other residential homes, groups and organisations on an ad hoc basis.’
